| If you are involved with the online gambling industry you are probably aware that Congress is trying to stop it at all costs. Not only would this affect the people that run these casinos, but it would also aggravate the hundreds of thousands of people that take part in this activity day in and day out. But if you think that Congress is simply trying to outlaw gambling sites you are wrong. Since the majority of online casino sites are outside of the United States, with many in Canada and the Caribbean, this would not be possible to do. Instead, Congress has decided that the best way to combat this industry is by making it illegal to handle any type of payment going into or coming out of these services. If this happens it is safe to say that United States players would be able to come up with a way to get around this; but the fact of the matter is that a law such as this would disable the use of credit cards, debit cards, and direct bank transfers. In turn, this would force players to take money and transfer it into a third party account such as NETeller. They could then work through a site like this in order to get their fix. There is a large group of people that feel that regulating online gambling is the way to go, but by trying to get rid of it altogether people would simply want to buck the system. With approximately $6 billion a year being spent by United States residents at online casinos, any sort of ban would put a major hamper on the industry. Instead, the thought of taxing would be much more conducive to the industry as a whole as well as its players. Many countries have went the tax and regulation route instead of simply banning these casinos altogether. This is a much better way to control the industry without taking away from all of the people that are involved. It is safe to say that these talks are only going to grow over the next couple of years. It will be interesting to see how things work out, and what Congress ends up doing.
